PRABHAKARA JIMMY QUEK
Artist Statement:
My artistic journey is a mix of Eastern and
Western influences, showing the richness of
different cultures and new ideas. Growing up in
Singapore, I learned the traditions of my
Teochew dialect family and experienced both
Chinese and English education. From
traditional Chinese calligraphy and ink painting
to the bold creativity of Western art, I combined
these different influences into my own unique
artistic vision.
Leaving the corporate world to follow my
passion, I started creating art that reflects my
unique identity—a mix of modern and
traditional styles. I draw inspiration from
Eastern philosophies like Confucianism, Taoism,
and Buddhism, as well as Western artistic
techniques. This helps me find a unique voice
rooted in my multicultural background.
My artworks use different mediums, from ink
and paint to digital art, aiming to bridge cultural
gaps and connect with people worldwide.
Displayed in galleries around the world, my art
transcends language and cultural barriers.
Through creating art, I explore emotions,
perceptions, and my sense of self, finding
peace, comfort, and strength in both my art
and meditation.
As I share my art with the world, I hope to
inspire others to nurture their creativity and
discover themselves. Whether through
painting, sculpture, or digital art, each piece
shows the deep fulfillment and purpose in
expressing one's true self. Through
introspection and artistic exploration, I
embrace life's challenges with gratitude and
contentment, empowered by the
transformative power of art to illuminate the
human experience.
